In 2005, hazardous waste regulations were expanded to include the safe disposal of televisions and old style computer monitors. Since this time we have been offering our customers a fully compliant TV/monitor recycling service.

Overton Circle TV processing

TV Processing line

The environmentally hazardous part of old style televisions and monitors is the cathode ray tube (CRT) – the part of the set that produces the image on the screen. This is removed, dismantled, recycled and then sent away to specialist reprocessing facilities.

A similar process is also in place for flat screen televisions. The remaining unit is stripped down to its component parts and then sorted into different recyclate streams. Some are sent for local processing whilst others are exported to specialist foreign markets.
